MEET THE ARTIST
Chet Wooding

For over 40 years, Chet Wooding has been a working artist creating fine art serigraphy.

Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawai'i, you will find tropical themes reflected throughout his pieces. He now creates his artwork in his San Diego, California studio, mostly likely donning his signature slippers (also known as slaps or flip-flops) and using his fabled yogurt cups as ink tins.

In 1974, Chet established Chet Wooding Graphics – a versatile studio offering commercial film photography, photo finishing, graphic design, and commercial screen printing services. As the owner and operator for more than 30 years, Chet forged lasting relationships in both the business and art worlds across the globe.

2014 marked a remarkable triple anniversary for Chet: he began film photography in 1964, screenprinting in 1974, and teaching at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) in 1984. Initially teaching traditional photography and screenprinting at the UCSD Crafts Center, he later became the Head of the Photography Program and continued teaching similar courses through UCSD Extension.

In 2013, Chet joined the Spanish Village Art Center in Balboa Park, San Diego. He now balances his time between the Village, where he sells his artwork, his shop, where he creates these pieces, and collaborating on limited edition serigraphs with other artists.
